Keyword Research Method Using SKCA

I have been asked a lot by SKCA users what keyword research method do I use to find “Amazing” keywords to target, so I wanted to make this short video to demonstrate one of the ways I do it.

I only have 2 methods that I use when doing keyword research, a quick one that takes me around 30 minutes to do and a long one that can take me up to 5 hours.

Today we will go over the quick method. Its fast and it usually gives great results (as you’ll see in the video).

I hope you enjoy the video and please leave a comment below.

Right click here and “save target as” to download the video.

Here are the steps I followed in the video to find the golden nugget:

  1. Go to the Google Keyword Tool and do a query for your main keyword using broad match type and selecting the “only show ideas closely related to my search term” option.
  2. Select 5 to 20 keywords that can better define the niche
  3. Then do a query inside the Google Keyword Tool for your main keyword and each one of the keywords you selected one by one, but this time use exact match type.
  4. For each query select the keywords that have more than 500 exact match type searches a month and download them into a csv file
  5. Now just combine the 5 to 20 csv files into one and run it through Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer.
  6. Export the results to excel and apply filters.
  7. Filter the list first by keyword rating and then by monthly searches.
  8. Pick your golden nuggets

Remember to always do a deeper analysis on the keywords you have selected by running them through the steps outlined in the CUTTING EDGE KEYWORD RESEARCH report.

There are a lot of keyword research methods out there; this is just one that I personally use because it always gives me great results.

Please leave a comment or share the keyword research method you use.

Thank you

Thank you for this very informative video. I purchased your Stealth keyword tool a few weeks ago and I love it! I use it every day. But seeing you you do the keyword research has given me some great ideas.

    Thank you again so much!

Very informative video. It’s a pleasure doing business with someone who continues to help and give good advice instead of continually hitting us with upsells or affiliate links for other products.

    Hi Alex

I got your tool because I do this system for niche ecommerce sites ( What I like about SKCA is your honesty, starting with dealing with exact match and then the real competition and your easy to use descriptions.

You really can save hours, I know because I tested one project that I had already spend 3 or 4 days on. I used 5 or 6 other tools to come up with my relevant list.

I ran your tool and it came up with most of the same and a few others.

Great value product and a man any serious IM should be watching.

  6. Gail

I use Stealth SKA all the time. It’s fantastic. Thankyou for the Cutting Edge Keyword Research and your very helpful emails too. You’re a real gem. One thing I’d like ro know more about is the use of proxies. Can you please cover this topic? Much appreciated.

As I mentioned in my testimonial email you have one of the best tools on the market. Coupled with your well thought out Keyword book this is a winner all the way around.

Any chance you could make this a download so I could put it in my Alex folder for reference?

    Thanks again

    Hi Alex,

Very very powerful and helpful video. Thank you so much for sharing such an interesting method.

Really like it very much! Thanks again.

    Hey Alex,

Firstly I just want to say thanks for this video and all the “good stuff” emails you keep sending. Finding the good guys in this industry is very difficult as they are few and far between. You are truly one of them and a real “diamond in the rough”.

I found SKCA through a fellow named Jeff Hampton and he too is a good guy. In my opinion, this is one of the best keyword tools on the market as it gives you a excellent foundation for starting a campaign. I was paying waaay too much money to a membership site recently just to have access to a keyword tool similar to yours, so am very happy to have found SKCA.

All the best to you and yours,

  11. Denis

    Great tutorial Alex.

Picking one method and staying with it, at least for a while, can make the difference between success and failure. Our industry is so full of methods and helps that it is easy to end up never gaining the focus necessary, and this despite so many of the products being really quality tools, mehods and approaches. Having one or two step by step approaches such as this can be worth gold.

Excellent training! A quick and very effective method of KW research. I can surely use this in my marketing.

In the blog post you mentioned another method of KW research that takes somewhat longer. Could you provide a summary list of the steps in that second method?

Thank you for the clarity of your presentation and for encouraging an unselfish spirit in our marketing. And you set a fine example yourself. There is certainly more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.

    Thank you

      Hi Tony,

I will be making another video post explaining that method. It’s much longer, with multiple steps and very time consuming but the results are really awesome.

      All the best,

      1. Nat

Just wondering how you’re making out on that longer method video with multiple steps?

        Knowledge is power right?

Anyhow, hope all is well down there. We’re experiencing some of your heat up here in the North East.

          Hi Nat,

          I’ll make that video soon.

I’ve been a little bit busy working on SKCA updates and a new software I’ll be releasing in the next couple of months.

          All the best,

      2. John

        Hi Alex,

Thanks SO much for this amazing video. Any update on when you might make the second lengthy keyword research video with the multiple steps you mentioned?

    Hi Alex

Thanks for the excellent video.I know a lot of people who does this work manually without using SKCA.I am gonna recommend this to them

Looking forward to your future post too to gather some golden nuggets 🙂

  14. Peter

Alex, I just want to add my ditto to all the other people who thank you for your software tool and your advice. Like so many others, I love the tool and I appreciate your generosity and the fact that you don’t make every post a winning post — thank you for not pushing for extra commissions on this and that.

It’s a pleasure to hear from you and to be part of your “family” of delighted customers.

I also loved the video and what’s in it as I found the tips so very useful and definitely added to my options for getting the most out of SKCA which I am so glad I bought.

    Thank you so much.

Thanks Alex, you have made searching for keywords a lot easier for us with this video and your stealth keyword tool, thanks heaps for your sharing your methods with us.

  16. Steve @ Plane Simulation Games

    Hi Alex
Much like the others here, I want to thank you for your time and knowledge in sending us the emails and this video – and without the ulterior motive of a promotion on the end of it like most IM’ers do.

I just wanted to check with you that the CUTTING EDGE KEYWORD RESEARCH report seems to cover everything that the TOOL does for us anyway, so wouldn’t I be duplicating the work that has already been done by the Stealth Tool? Or do you mean to miss the duplicated areas and just continue in the report after that?

    Many thanks Alex

    1. Post
      Alex Safie

Yes Steve SKCA automates some of the core keyword research parameters explained in the report.

But once you have your “Amazing” and “Great” keywords, run them through the rest of the parameters explained in the CUTTING EDGE KEYWORD RESEARCH to ensure that you will have success with them.

      All the best,

  17. vimal

Alex you always go above and beyond and we all appreciate you, Thanks again for a great video and thanks for turning up the volume,I could hear you easily this time.May GOD always bless you my friend

  20. Jason

Thanks for such a wonderful application.

But can you please explain these 3 fields in details and how they influence the value of any particular keyword?

CP Strength, Average PR, PR Strength

    1. Post
      Alex Safie

      Hi Jason,

CP Strength is a rating based on the REAL number of competing pages. This just tells you how crowded the playing field is.

PR Strength is based on the Average Page Rank and this tells you if there are authority sites in the first page of Google for your chosen keyword.

You can find a more detailed explanation of these 2 factors inside the Cutting Edge Keyword Research report (pages 9 through 12).

      All the best,

  21. Gray

    Hi Alex,

I am pleasantly surprised to have found a vendor with such high a quality service. The fact that you go on, well after the purchase, giving support beyond the call of duty, is such a quality that is so rare these days. So much so, that I will be modelling my own business in a similar fashion, after having the great experience of purchasing from you.
Keep up the excellent work, you are a star, amongst stars & deserve your business to flourish exceptionally well.
    Thank you Aex.
    Best Regards,

  23. Metropolitan Tour

    Hi Alex,
Thank you for this excellent video. I am using SKCA all the time now (I’ve dumped my Market Samurai lol).

One thing that concern me in using SKCA is speed. Would it be running faster if we use proxies? Can you suggest proxy service we can use?

    Thanks again.

    1. Post
      Alex Safie

Yes using proxies will speed up the analysis.

I don’t use proxies with SKCA, so I don’t really personally know of any good proxy service.

Although I’ve heard this one is cheap and good: www. php

      Hope this helps

  24. Bonnie Peterson

    Hi Alex,

I love the way you always over-deliver, and believe me, I’m not complaining! Not only does your product (SKCA) do what it says it will do and more, your support is unsurpassed.

I don’t have enough posts done to be able to give you a glowing testimonial on the Warrior Forum, so perhaps you can add this one. I think you and your products are the BEST!

  25. Ezra

Thank you for this video. It is very on point. Most people don’t realise that your column that lists real competing pages is a more accurate assessment of the average page rank and therefore more desciptive of actual competition based on Google’s analytics. This is a very useful tool. AND, this video is very helpful. Thank you, yet again.

Do put together at lease the steps one would take to go through the 5 hour analysis. Looking forward to it.

    Best, Ezra

  26. Daniel

The method in this video really helped me.
I have long used SKCA, but I am very impressed with the results.
SKCA really give me the best solution.

    Hi Alex

I must thank you first for the stealth keyword tool, it has really made the task not only interesting but fast. As for the regular information, kindly note that it is highly appreciated. Thanks again, am learning each day.

  29. JOHN

Thanks for the helpful vid. Question: Do you have any rules of thumb you use to decide whether or not to pursue or not a given market? Like how many Amazings or Greats do you need to be interested? How much attention to do you Goods? I know a single decent KW can be used to set up a small site. Was just wondering beyond that. Thanks.

    Hi Alex
thank you for the great keyword research video and your clear instructions.
I have purchased your stealth keyword tool and I am putting it through its paces.
I like the way that you edited the phrases with low search count then went deeper into the keywords before pasting them into the tool.

Wow ! Thank y0u so much!!!!!! This has been my doubts on how to choose the right keyword after purchase the SKCA! And now you show me the video. You are really the best vendor i ever found on Warrior Forum ! Thank you so much and wish to see some more good products from you soon.

  34. Affordable Websites

    Hi Alex,
thanks so much for you helpful video.
Since I purchased SKCA I haven’t had much use for Market Samurai. (I do use one other KW research software though 😉 )
At the moment, SKCA has quickly allowed me to make a decision not to pursue a particular niche. So not only does it target great KWs, it also lets me know the really bad ones 😀
Both you and your software are very helpful! Thanks again.

  35. Maria

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your video. I tried SKCA for almost 30 days but did not give me amazing keywords that I could build a money making site but your video gave me idea on how to use SKCA effectively. Although I have Micro Niche Finder, I will buy SKCA again & not return it this time because MNF needs “babysitting” to look for low competition keywords. With SKCA, I can just leave it on its own to search the keywords.

  36. Sasikumar R

Alex, that video was really very informative. Not something that you find Gurus usually teaching others. I also would like to know your longer method.

In your video, you talk about copying and pasting from different CSV sheets into one single sheet. There is a software that can easily do this for any number of CSV or Excel files. You can read more about it on my blog at:

    Sasikumar R

    1. James

You did a BRILLIANT job explaining all of this. I use Google Keywords all day long just to park my dimoan names with Parking Companies and to find out what the right keyword(s) I should use in earning the MOST revenue for pay per clicks. Once again you did an AMAZING job explaining other methods of using Google keywords.

  37. JJ

To easily combine several .csv files into one file, place them all in one folder then create a bat file as follows:

    1. Copy the following code into a blank notepad:

for %%f IN (*.csv) DO type %%f>>master.csv

    2. Save the file as csv_combine.bat (make sure Save as type: All files (*.*) is selected) into the folder with your .csv files
    3. Make sure there are no spaces in any of your .csv filenames!
    4. click csv_combine.bat to run it.

That’s it! All your files will be combined in master.csv
The only thing left to do is to remove duplicates. Be sure the extra headers are removed too.

    Hi Alex,

I FINALLY got to watching this video. Thank you so much. But I have a question:

In step 1, in the post you state to check the “only show ideas closely related to my search term” option. In the video, it is not checked.

Please clarify. I can almost guess that the post is correct, because when we do videos, we are concentrating on too many things and can forget 1 little check. But I just want to make sure.

I love SKCA. I have tried several others, all mentioned above and SKCA beats them.

You are very much appreciated. Your site has become one of my few “go to” sites when I need information.

    Take care,
    Donna 🙂

  39. Donna White

    Hi Alex,

In step 1, in the post you state to check the “only show ideas closely related to my search term” option. In the video, it is not checked.

Is it supposed to be checked or not. I would appreciate an answer.

    1. Post
      Alex Safie

      Hi Donna,

It depends on what you want.

If you want a set of keywords that are closely related to your seed keyword then you would select “only show ideas closely related to my search term”

But if you want a broader range of keywords that can maybe help you uncover a sub niche then you would leave this option unchecked.

      1. Donna White

        Thanks for your answer.

I know what that means, I was asking about it in regards to your “method” and how the correct way to do your way in the video.

    Great tips as always, Alex.

    You’ve become a trusted advisor

To do domain/keyword matches would you feed your selected keyword csv back into SKCA?

    Have a good day.

  41. Amnuai Beckenham

Alex your video was excellent and I am so very happy to be a customer of yours. Very rarely do I see people who continue to provide such great value-add material well after the sale is made.

As a small handmade Thai silk manufacturer located in a remote Thai village and up against long established, larger and far bigger than us, we have found your products to be fantastic in getting our page rankings improved and now positioned on Google page 1 for 15 of our main keywords.

    Many thanks

  42. Jarza

    Hi Alex,
And thanks for a GREAT video!
    One question:
I also have your KW Digger (which is great) to find KW ideas. Do you mean that I can get more and better ideas using the method you show in the video?

    1. Post
      Alex Safie

      Hi Jarza,

If you have Stealth Keyword Digger then you don’t need to do this method manually as with SKD you’ll get even more keyword ideas in less time and on autopilot.

Stealth Keyword Digger does the “long method” that I mention in the blog post.

  43. Henry Bell

Love your presentation. Thanks for the great insight. Now I have a better way to look for profitable keywords.

  44. Anne
